INFORMATION FOR VETerinary surgeons
Padfoot Canine Behaviour is the leading specialist animal behaviour practice based on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. We run group dog training classes and private lessons, conduct formal behavioural assessments and develop behaviour management plans for issues such as barking, separation anxiety, digging, jumping, destructive behaviour (including chewing), reactivity, insecurity, obsessive behaviour and aggression of any kind, and we run specialist clinics including Canine Snake Avoidance, Conservation Detection Dog Training, Preparing To Rescue, relationship games and more.
Our Foundation level course starts from when puppies are permitted to go out in public (~12 weeks of age +), and runs in 5-week blocks in Buderim on Sunday mornings, and Monday / Wednesday evenings. Foundation is followed by our Intermediate, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum level programs which also run at Buderim Mountain State School Oval on Sunday mornings. There is no upper age limit for dogs. Our overall education program across all levels comprises a progression plan towards the following, 100% reliable, safety-and-welfare-related behaviours:
Recall - the dog recalls immediately and at pace when instructed, and ‘Downs’ in front of the handler, regardless of distractions.
Stop - the dog immediately stops what they’re doing, ‘Downs’ and gives the handler their undivided attention when instructed, regardless of distractions.
Loose Lead - the dog walks reliably at liberty, heel and middle on a loose lead. No pulling, regardless of distractions.
Quiet Confidence - the dog is quietly confident in all aspects of life.
